PESHAWAR: The Khyber Teaching Hospital (KHT) management on Wednesday started a cleanliness campaign for a week.It was meant to create awareness among people about the importance of cleanliness.Board of Governors (BoG) Chairman Dr Faisal Sultan inaugurated the drive. Other members, faculty of the hospital along with management, patients’ attendants, civil society members and Water and Sanitation Services Peshawar (WSSP) workers participated in the campaign.A walk in the hospital was arranged to inform the general public and patients’ attendants about the importance of cleanliness. The drive will be held after every three months.The BoG chairman said the campaign would continue till March 5 to clean the hospital and its surroundings. He thanked the WSSP for sending the team for the cleanliness of the surrounding of the hospital during the drive.Hospital Director Dr Nekdad Khan emphasised on the importance of cleanliness and why it is bad to throw things on the ground. “Bits of food particles and other things on the floor make the whole place untidy,” he pointed out.During the walk the participants proceeded to pick up all the garbage and throw them in the trash can.Acting Medical Director Associate Prof Dr Muhammad Shoaib spoke on the occasion as well.Earlier, being an expert of the infectious disease, Dr Faisal Sultan addressed the nursing staff on how tocontrol infection in the hospital and hygienic environment.Leaflets and pamphlet were distributed among the general public about cleanliness. Quotations and short sentences about cleanliness and hygiene were shared by the faculty and managerial staff.
