AC grants remand of two accused in fake accounts case

ISLAMABAD: An accountability court on Tuesday granted a nine-day physical remand of two more accused allegedly involved in the fake accounts reference.The court directed the National Accountability Bureau to produce the accused Abdul Jabbar and Muhammad Bashir along with the main accused in the case related to Secretary Land Utilization Department (LUD) of the Sindh Board of Revenue Aftab Memon on the next date of hearing.Previously, the court had granted a 13-day physical remand of Aftab Memon. NAB officials informed the court that the two accused had got allotted land with the connivance of officials of the LUD Sindh and paid the amount through fake accounts. The both persons were partners of Pink Residency which got the land allotment.The officials apprised the court that the NAB had arrested the accused after they failed to join investigations. Jabbar took the stance that he had appeared before the joint investigation team (JIT) but was later kidnapped. He couldn’t even see his family for the last five months. The court directed the NAB to let the accused meet his family members and produce all of them on March 21, after the end of physical remand.
