LAHORE: Scattered rain was observed in the city on Friday while the Met Office predicted similar weather conditions for the next 24 hours.Met officials said a strong rain-bearing system was affecting the upper, western and southern parts of the country and might persist in the upper parts till Sunday. They predicted that widespread rain/thunderstorm (with snowfall over the hills) accompanied by windstorm was expected in Quetta, Zhob, Kalat, Makran, Larkana, Shaheed Benazirabad, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sargodha divisions, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan, while at scattered places in Sibbi, Naseerabad, Sukkur, Hyderabad, Multan, D.G. Khan, Lahore, Faisalabad divisions, and at isolated places in Sahiwal, Bahawalpur, Mirpurkhas and Karachi divisions.Heavy falls may cause flash flooding in the local nullas/riverines of Balochistan and trigger landslides in Malakand, Hazara, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir.
