LAHORE: Speakers at a series of seminars have stressed the need to promote peace and harmony in the country by encouraging the culture of dialogue and discouraging the growing trend of imposing one’s opinions and beliefs on others.The first event of the series organized as part of a week-long awareness campaign under Paigham-e-Pakistan initiative of the government of Pakistan was held at Darul Uloom Naeemia, Lahore, on Tuesday, followed by another seminar in Sargodha the same day. The third event of the same series was held in Sialkot on Wednesday while another one at Darul Uloom Naeemia, Lahore, on Saturday.Jamia Naeemia patron-in-chief and Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) member Allama Raghib Hussain Naeemi presided over the sessions. Hundreds of religious scholars, ulema, madaris teachers besides thousands of students from Dr Sarfraz Naeemi Research Institute, Jamia Ume Ashraf Jamaal, Jamia Ghausia Islamabad and Jamia Sarajia Naeemia Lahore participated in the seminars.A unanimous resolution was passed and a joint declaration was issued at the concluding ceremony. Through the joint declaration, the participants pledged to continue efforts for the protection of human rights and the rights of the minorities in the light of the teachings of Islam, besides promotion of interfaith and intersect harmony in the country.The participants pledged support to all efforts for unity of Muslim Ummah, global peace and reconciliation and resolution of domestic as well as international disputes through peaceful means. They vowed to take the message of love, peace, harmony, brotherhood and unity to every nook and corner of the country.The resolution condemned all acts of extremism, violence, terrorism, social injustice, intolerance and suicide bombing, which is prohibited in all religions of the world including Islam.The participants paid rich tribute to the armed forces of Pakistan, especially Pakistan Army, for rendering matchless sacrifices to rid the country of the menaces of terrorism and extremism through Operation Zarb-e-Azb and Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad. The resolution maintained that through their untiring efforts, the security forces had broken the back of the terrorists and made Pakistan a safe and strong country by foiling all conspiracies being hatched by the enemies.The participants unanimously supported the gestures of peace taken by Prime Minister Imran Khan vis-à-vis recent escalation with India. They declared that the stance taken by the Pakistani government was backed by 220 million people of the country, adding that the Pakistan’s peace initiatives have been hailed by the world community which has helped improve country’s image at the international level. They also offered their all-out support to the government and the Pakistan Army in all such peace endeavors in future.The joint declaration announced to celebrate the year 2019 as ‘Paigham-e-Pakistan Year’ and pledged to disseminate the message of peace, unity and brotherhood to every nook and corner of the country.
