Islamabad: Each Union Council of Islamabad will have at least one health facility, and for this, two more Rural Health Centres (RHCs) and 9 Basic Health Units (BHUs) will be built in the rural areas of the city in the coming years.The Minister of National Health Services Amer Mehmood Kiani made this observation while articulating the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan during consultations with the chairmen of the union councils of Islamabad here Tuesday in connection with the first-ever health strategy of Islamabad. The objective of the meeting was to not only brief them on the new developments in the district health system, but also to get seek suggestions of the peoples’ representatives.Kiani added that a comprehensive primary health care system will be developed for the districts to ensure timely availability of health services at the doorstep of communities, including recruitment of 600 more LHWs. The scope of services in hospitals are also being upgraded along with building of Islamabad General Hospital at Tarlai, construction of new building of Poly Clinic, and expansion of National Institute of Rehabilitative Medicine.MNA of Islamabad Ali Awan believed that the plan presented by the Minister was ambitious and offered an excellent opportunity for the people of Islamabad to improve their health outcomes.
