LAHORE: The PTI government needs to introduce and implement comprehensive reforms to resolve public problems. The government should focus the public’s economic issues.These views were expressed by the participants in Jang Economic Session on “Women and Students’ Views on Government’s Performance.” The discussants were Falahat Imran, Farhanaz Naqvi, Riffat Malik and students Samrana Raza, Shazab Ahmed, Ali Ijaz, Madhia Jafri and Amna Nusrat. The vent was hosted by Sikandar Lodhi.Falahat Imran said a comprehensive policy and its strict implementation was crucial to resolve the country’s economic and social issues. She said end of withholding tax regime, anti-encroachment drive and equal accountability was success of the government. She said the government should also give jobs to the unemployed people and alternative business opportunities to the affectees of anti-encroachment drive besides controlling price hike of daily-used items.Farhanaz Naqvi said the national security should be the top priority. She said current response to Indian aggression and offers of dialogue to India showed the leadership of Pakistan was serious in maintaining peace. She said the public should wait and show patience for relief as issues of 70 years could not be resolved in a short time.Riffat Malik said efforts for peace, educational reforms and mega foreign investment projects showed the country was moving in the right direction and future of the country was bright. Students Samrana Raza, Shazab Ahmed, Ali Ijaz, Madhia Jafri and Amna Nusrat said Prime Minister Imran Khan given a positive message of peace to the world by releasing the Indian pilot. The public should also change their behaviour for change. They said revolutionary changes were not visible as were promised in the election slogans.The government should introduce tax reforms and ensure provision of socio-economic justice for the growth of the country. A good strategy was required to resolve the critical economic issues. Similarly, the promise of jobs for the youth was not fulfilled despite the PTI was backed by the majority of the youth, the students said.They suggested the government focus on ensuring basic facilities to the public and resolve basic issues of food, shelter and housing which a majority of population was facing in the country.
