MULTAN: The Multan Electric Power Company (Mepco) Friday imposed an emergency in southern Punjab districts and suspended Saturday and Sunday holidays of the employees asking them to ensure their attendance in their respective offices.According to Mepco officials, the Ministry of Energy has ordered Mepco and other companies for termination of Saturday and Sunday as free day due to extra ordinary situation in the country.Mepco Director General HR& Admin Muhammad Ali has issued a circular in this regard directing all staff members to remain present in their offices on Saturday and Sunday. All field offices, operation, GSO, construction and GSC wings’ officials were asked to remain vigilant to combat any emergency in their respective areas on March 2 and 3.The Mepco has established control rooms at sub division and circle level to continue frequent electricity supply. The control rooms would work in three shifts. The Mepco has appointed chief engineer O&M Distribution Mepco Headquarters Muhammad Akram Bathi as monitoring officer for control rooms. The control rooms would responsible for frequent electricity supply in all the 13 districts of south Punjab.
