NAB’s new DG for KP assumes charge

PESHAWAR: The newly appointed Director General of National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mujahid Akbar Baloch, assumed charge on Monday.As per an official communiqué, the NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa head vowed to ensure accountability for all. “On his first day in office, NAB DG reviewed the performance of the bureau. He expressed satisfaction at the progress of cases,” it said, adding he also urged his team to maintain integrity.In order to prevent the miscarriage of justice, the DG advised all officers to protect the constitutional rights of all persons under scrutiny in accountability matters. The NAB DG took charge of the post at a time where several high-profile corruption cases are already under investigation in the KP Bureau.There are several cases at the inquiry and investigation stage in the bureau including the Prime Minister Imran Khan misuse of helicopter case, Malam Jabba case against Defence Minister Pervez Khattak, Secretary to PM Azam Khan, Chief Minister Mahmood Khan and Senior Provincial Minister Atif Khan, who had recorded their statements in the helicopter and Malam Jabba cases.There are other important cases as well. These include the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project and assets cases against Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Ameer Muqam and Saifullah brothers. There is an inquiry into alleged misuse of authority against the former chief minister Pervez Khattak, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Speaker Mushtaq Ghani and others.
