Pakistani, Japanese students paint cultural exchange mural

MANSEHRA: Students of Pakistan and Japan have painted a mural showing weathers, flowers, fruit, dresses and historic monuments of their respective countries under a Cultural Exchange Programme.“This is a unique way of bringing students of both countries together and introducing culture and national heritage with each other,” stated Umar Khan Swati, the principal of Mansehra Public School and College, while speaking to reporters on Tuesday.He said that students of his school and students of Otemon Gakuin Junior and Senior High School, Japan, painted the mural. “The right half of the mural, painted by our students, was dispatched to Japan where students painted its left half, completing this unique piece of art and love,” said Swati.He said that various sessions of students of both sides were held through Skype during the course of painting. He said that monuments Khyber Pass and remembrance of Lahore Resolution (Minar-e-Pakistan) also features in their side of the painting.“The students of both sides also shared gifts related to their culture and cards carrying messages of peace and love,” he said. Swati said that both the educational institutions had entered into the joint venture under the aegis of the Japan Art Mile Foundation that works to introduce Japanese culture throughout the world.
