PESHAWAR: The Public Civil Service (PCS) Officers Association on Tuesday asked the federal reforms committee to expedite work on reforming the civil service. A meeting of the association was held at the Civil Secretariat with its president Ghafoor Beg in the chair, said a press release. It said that the participants discussed all issues about the civil service and it was noted that committees on civil service reforms at federal and provincial levels were going at a snail's pace. The participants believed that these bodies were not ready to take up the structural issues, which were the root causes of all ills of the governance. "Apportionment formula 93 whereby is still intact and there is no placement board and postings and transfer are being carried out without any criteria," the meeting noted. The meeting said that the career progression and trainings of officers had been put on the back burner and performance evaluation was subjective. The issues of tribal areas transition and Levy/Khassadar force during transition were also discussed and the meeting reiterated that transition may be done in a controlled manner keeping in view the due feasibility and taking on board all the stakeholders. The meeting also decided that the association would meet the KP chief minister next week to apprise him of the issues confronting the officers
