LAHORE: Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has said the development of the agriculture sector on the permanent basis and prosperity of farmers is the government’s mission and measures are being taken in this regard.The CM expressed these views while talking to delegations at the Chief Minister’s Office. He said promotion of the agriculture sector on the modern lines was drastically needed and special focus was being laid on the agricultural research and development to improve the living standards of the farmers. He said the welfare of farmers was the government’s priority and the country would progress when the farmers would progress.He said the PTI government would protect the rights of farmers at every cost. He said a long-term policy was being pursued for development of agriculture on permanent grounds and it would produce far-reaching results.He said new programme were being started to help increase yield of crops and increase income of farmers. He said approval had been granted to provide certified cotton seed to farmers that would increase the yield of cotton.He said indiscriminate action would be taken against the manufacturers of spurious pesticides. He said special measures were being taken to increase the yield of oilseed crops. An all-out effort will be made to protect the rights of farmers, he added.
