Bollywood newbie Sara Ali Khan has found herself entangled in her first controversy for her ‘racist’ debut magazine shoot promoting cultural appropriation.The 23-year-old Kedarnath star for her debut magazine shoot with Filmfare had headed down to Kenya for a photo shoot where she was spotted posing with an African man, used as a prop in the background while the actor stands in the front in an embroidered dress. Soon after the publication unveiled the photos from the shoot, social media users erupted with rage terming the actor ‘tone deaf’ and slamming her for cultural appropriation and racism. “This photo is super tone deaf and Sara Ali Khan & Filmfare should feel super ashamed of themselves, I think the Masai tribeman, who are known for jumping straight high, is doing exactly that in the pic. His shadow is mixed with the model's shadow (his foot's shadow on her pant),” complained one Twitter user.As of yet, neither the magazine nor the actor herself have stepped forward addressing the matter.
