Federal Minister Tariq Bashir, Central Additional Secretary PTI Ejaz Chaudhary were also present in the meeting.Chaudhry Shujaat praised PTI leadership for the proactive and deft handling of the recent crisis. Lauding PM Imran Khan, he said that the premier played a sagacious role in de-escalating tension between Pakistan and India which was created due to the war mongering attitude of Indian leadership. “Imran Khan’s announcement to release Indian captive pilot is an unprecedented gesture of peace,” he said. He expressed complete confidence in the leadership of PM Imran Khan.Meanwhile, PTI Information Secretary Omar Sarfraz Cheema said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insafwas the only party that was committed towards civil services reforms to make it efficient and responsive to the needs of time. “Without improving the structure of civil services, it is impossible to solve administrative problems being faced by Pakistan,” he noted.Cheema, while commenting on civil services reforms, stated that political leadership depends on the bureaucracy for the implementation of their agenda. “PTI resolves to introduce structural reforms in the bureaucratic set-up,” he said adding that PTI’s KP government has set a precedent by depoliticising the provincial police and bureaucracy in its first ever tenure. He said that under the leadership of PM Imran Khan the process of de-politicising of the civil service in Punjab, and the centre is underway and to ensure merit, the appointments/transfers of the officers are to be conditioned to their performance.“In the prevailing system political representatives have a limited role in the implementation of the decisions made by the government,” he said and added that the goal of effective governance is unattainable without establishing systematic balance between the powers of ministries and bureaucracy. Concluding the statement, he reiterated party’s resolve to cleanse bureaucracy from political interference in the Centre and Punjab to make it efficient and responsive to the needs of time.
