Two of a family die after consuming poisonous tablets

RAWALPINDI: Two persons died while three others are in critical condition as some poisonous liquid is oozing out of their mouths at District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ), Rawalpindi on Saturday.According to DHQ doctors, five victims of a family named Waseem Ijaz, Razia Waseem, Jaweria Waseem, Ibrahim Waseem and Raham Waseem were rushed tothe hospital in critical condition.The 10-year-old Ibrahim Waseem and 40-year-old Razia Waseem had expired before reaching hospital, doctors said.The doctors also said that it might be a suicide attempt case because all victims had eaten rat-killing tablets. The condition of other three victims is very critical.The Rescue 1122 official Spokesman Muhammad Farooq Butt told ‘The News’ that this incident took place at Bohar Bazaar near Lal Haveli, Rawalpindi.The neighbours informed them that the members of the family had been unconscious for a long time at home while liquid was spilling from their mouths.The Rescue 1122 teams reached the spot and shifted them to DHQ Hospital for treatment but two of them already expired on the way, he said.Divisional Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ijaz Shah said that they had started investigation about this incident.It seemed that it was a suicide incident but afterinvestigation they would solve the mystery shrouding the incident very soon, he said.Muhammad Junaid who is nephew of Basit (owner of the house where poor family was living) informed Rescue 1122 officials about the incident.
