ABU DHABI: The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani discussed bilateral ties between the two friendly nations and means to advance cooperation between the nations, according to UAE official news agency, WAM.Six agreements between the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Afghanistan were signed with the aim of promoting and developing joint co-operation between the two countries, according to The National newspaper. The agreements are about mutual cooperation on education, agriculture, mining, energy, cultural and sport co-operation.Earlier, the Crown Prince welcomed Ashraf Ghani at the Presidential Palace of Abu Dhabi where he was given an official reception. The two leaders then held official talks and discussed enhancing bilateral relations as well as regional and international issues of mutual interest, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Mohamed said in a tweet.During the meeting, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and President Ghani reviewed issues of mutual interest, as well as regional and international developments, particularly those concerning efforts to combat terrorism and extremism, and means to achieve security, stability, and peace for the region and the world.Both leaders also reviewed areas of cooperation in various sectors in addition to boosting efforts to support the reconstruction, development and peace initiatives in Afghanistan.Sheikh Mohamed said that the UAE, under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, pays great attention to supporting regional and international efforts that aim to assist the Afghan people to overcome challenges, and obtain peace and stability within their country, according to WAM.Ashraf Ghani then paid a visit to Vice President and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohamed bin Rashid at Zabeel Palace in Dubai. The two sides affirmed the two countries' efforts to develop bilateral relations in various fields of cooperation that serve their common interests and contribute to development and stability in the region. They also stressed the importance of redoubling the international community's efforts to achieve peace and security and to consolidate the values of tolerance.
