MANSEHRA: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has approached elders and Ulema belonging to Upper Kohistan to get their help to increase literacy rate in the district, particularly among women."I am here on advice of Prime Minister Imran Khan to ensure that each and every child in Kohistan goes to school as this is our future," chief minister's advisor Ziaullah Bangash told a grand jirga in Dassu on Friday.The deputy commissioner Upper Kohistan and educationists were also present. Bangash told the jirga that Prime Minister Imran Khan, who had been to the area a number of times, was also impressed by the area's tourism potential and called for enrolling children in schools."We have been trying to operationalise all girls and boys' schools, which were considered 'ghost' previously, and teachers who remain absent from duty for five days in any month would be terminated from service," he added.He said that more than 17,000 male and female teachers were appointed during the last seven month. He said that the government was not building any new school in the entire province but would meet the capacity issue at schools and earmarked an amount of Rs9 billion for construction of new classrooms.
