MANSEHRA: Residents took to the streets to protest what they called lack of health services at the Civil Hospital in Darband after a patient taken to the facility died because oxygen cylinder was reportedly not available there."This hospital has been operational since long but the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is yet to supply surgical equipment and fill vacant posts of doctors and paramedics," Ijaz Tanoli, a youth councillor, told reporters outside the hospital. The family members of the deceased and locals took to the streets and raised slogans, demanding an immediate supply of surgical equipment and machinery. "The hospital has been shifted to the newly constructed building almost one year ago but neither the vacant posts of doctors and other staff have been filled out, nor are surgical equipment and other facilities available," said Tanoli. He said that patients at the facility were often referred to hospitals in other parts of Hazara and serious patient mostly die on way to another hospital. "We have taken up this issue with local lawmakers and high-ups in the Health Department, but to no avail," he added.
