WANA: The elders of the Burki tribe on Friday fixed dowry (HaqMehr) not more than Rs0.25 million in South Waziristan tribal district. The decision was made at the engagement ceremony of Umar Burki, son of Gul ZamanBurki, solemnized with the daughter of Mujibur Rehman Burki. It was held at the residence of late tribal elder Malik Mir Azam Shah Burki in Kaniguram village.The ceremony was attended by notables of the Burki tribe, including Malik Said Alam Shah Burki, Malik Irfanuddin Burki and others. Speaking on the occasion, Malik Said Alam Burki said that the decision of fixing Haq Mehr has been put into practice now starting with the engagement of Mujibur Rehman Burki. “This decision would now be followed properly by members of the Burki tribe,” he declared. He said that earlier the people were facing problems due to tough and costly condition of dowry and Haq Mehr set by the girl’s parents in the area.
