NAB presents irrigation officials to court over corruption charges

SUKKUR: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Friday brought the arrested irrigation officials, allegedly involved in corruption, to Sukkur from Islamabad on transit remand and presented them before the Accountability Court that sent them to jail. Reports said the NAB Sukkur had taken Executive Engineer Irrigation West Division, Ayaz Soomro, Sheer Muhammad Veesar, SDO Thari Mirwah Ghulam Nabi Baber, Ali Gul Phull, Sadoro Khan Abro, Mir Muhammad Abro, contractor Ghulam Sarwar Kalihoro into custody from Islamabad after the Supreme Court had rejected their bail plea in a mega corruption of irrigation projects, including remodeling of Mirwah Canal. The court has sent officials jail on judicial remand and gave December 02, 2019 the next hearing date. The NAB has also brought another arrested contractor Abdul Razzaq Behrani to the court and told that the criminal had allegedly transferred Rs. 2.5 million to the account of PPP leader Syed Khursheed Shah. The Bureau pleaded the court to extend the physical remand to conclude investigation in the case. Eyeing NAB’s request, the court has given 15 more days remand of Razzaq.
