LAHORE: In the wake of extremely poor air quality due to dense smog, School Education Department (SED) Punjab has announced closure of schools in three districts including Lahore on Friday (today).As per the notification, all public and private schools within the territorial limits of Lahore, Faisalabad and Gujranwala will remain closed on Friday (today). It is pertinent to mention here that Air Quality Index (AQI) was over 400 (which fall in hazardous category) in Lahore and other areas during most of the day on Thursday. As per the US Consulate Lahore’s air quality monitor, AQI in the provincial metropolis had reached 598 at 12pm on Thursday.
