UAE interested in establishing furniture manufacturing unit in Punjab

LAHORE: The UAE investors showed their interest in establishing furniture-making unit in Punjab.A delegation of investors of UAE led by former UAE Ambassador Darwaish Almansoori called on Provincial Minister for Industries and Trade Mian Aslam Iqbal at the office of Punjab Board of Investment and Trade on Friday. Investment opportunities in various sectors in Punjab were discussed in the meeting. The investors expressed interest in establishing furniture-making unit in the province.Talking to the delegation, Mian Aslam Iqbal said that there was a vast scope of investment in furniture industry. “We will welcome the investment from the UAE investors in furniture-making sector. UAE investors should establish furniture making units; the government will provide place to them in special economic zones,” he said. The Punjab Board of Investment and Trade will provide all possible cooperation to them, he added.Aslam Iqbal said it was top most priority of the Punjab government to bring new investment to the province. The purpose of establishing new industrial estates and special economic zones is to accelerate the industrialisation. More than 1 billion dollar investment has been made in Faisalabad Industrial Zone and billions of dollars agreements have been signed with foreign companies, the minister said.Punjab Board of Investment and Trade CEO and other officers concerned were also present in the meeting.
