17 injured in Mansehra road accident

MANSEHRA: Seventeen persons, including children and women, sustained injuries when a passenger van skidded off the road and plunged into a ravine in Sangilian area of Parhana on Sunday.Eyewitnesses said the driver couldn’t keep control of the steering while negotiating a sharp turn and the vehicle plunged into the gorge.The locals rushed to the scene and shifted the injured to King Abdullah Teaching Hospital where the condition of three of them was stated to be critical. Mohammad Zulfiqar, an eyewitness, told reporters that accident happened because of the overloading and overspeeding. Meanwhile, a former member of the district council, Zaheer Abbas, told reporters that government had sanctioned Rs300 million funds for the carpeting of Garhi Habibullah-Boi road.
