35 held in Bannu search operation

BANNU: Police on Sunday claimed to have arrested five proclaimed offenders and another 30 suspects and also recovered weapons.On the directives of District Police Officer Yasir Afridi, Saddar Police Station SHO Gul Hameed Khan conducted raids in several areas. The raids led to the arrest of five proclaimed offenders. The police teams arrested 30 other suspects during checking at different posts. The police recovered four Kalashnikovs, three guns, one rifle, eight pistols, 388 bullets and 1460 grams hashish. Meanwhile, eight Momandkhel tribes have refused to be part of Bakakhel tehsil and sought merger of the area with the Bannu tehsil.The decision was announced at a Jirga in which Momandkhel elders declared that they had demanded setting up of tehsil headquarters of Bakakhel in Azad Mandi area and even offered land for the purpose but said the authorities were establishing tehsil headquarters in Bakakhel, which was unacceptable to them. They opposed separation from Bakakhel tehsil and sought merger into Bannu tehsil.
