SUKKUR: The Sindh governor has strongly rejected the statements of PTI leaders talking of the imposition of governor’s rule, terming them not to be true.Talking to the media, Imran Ismail said no conspiracy is being hatched against the Sindh government. He strongly rejected the statements by the PTI leader regarding the imposition of governor’s rule. Similarly, he said his party is not behind creation of any forward group in the PPP. The governor said none of this was discussed in the GDA’s meeting with the PM early this week. However, the elected representatives of the allied parties raised complaints against power utilities like Sepco and Hesco and some federal institutions. The prime minister heard them and directed action to address their complaints. He said the prime minister is within his constitutional right to summon the IGP and chief secretaries of the provinces. The governor also said there was nothing unusual about the meeting of Sindh MPs with the prime minister.The governor said former prime minister Nawaz Sharif has escaped from Pakistan exploiting his illness and is now being seen shopping in the malls. Nawaz has joined others members of his family absconding from the law. He said that now Maryam Nawaz has also submitted request to remove her name from the ECL to take control of her business interests.He deplored the Sindh government for surrendering upright police officers as a punishment to the Establishment Division. Earlier, Governor Sindh Imran Ismail said the issue of tomato price was turned into an indicator of government’s success. He quipped if the government would be considered more successful if the price of tomato drops to Rs 5. He said no one ever highlights how the PTI government averted the impending economic crisis by successfully managing issues with the World Bank and the IMF.The governor was addressing the inaugural ceremony of the successful Young Startup Pakistan Pilot Programme, sponsored by BIR Ventures, US, at the IBA University, Sukkur, on Monday.Addressing the programme, he said that the government provided Rs six million to students of Sindh who had built a drone that won the first prize in a competition among of 42 countries.Governor Imran Ismail said the world is marching forwards with new ideas and concepts. He said the youth of Pakistan will have to address the emerging challenges with innovative ideas and inventions to bring around development and prosperity.Questioning what did the Free Laptop Scheme achieve, he said Prime Minister Imran Khan is determined to empower the youth who will have the reigns in the future. Ismail said the government has pledged to provide billions of rupees under a Successful Youth Programme to provide technical education and financial support to millions of youth.
