Price magistrates directed to control inflation

GUJRANWALA: Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Dr Zeeshan Hanif Thursday directed price control magistrates to control price hike. Addressing a meeting, the ADCR said no one would be allowed to raise prices of edible things violating the official rates. He said the Punjab government has decided to take stringent measures in this regard. The ADCR asked the price magistrates to increase their performance. He said their weekly performance would be reviewed and action would be taken against the officers showing poor performance. Briefing the meeting, Tanvir Abbas said price control magistrates have imposed a fine to the tune of Rs 3 million on the shopkeepers and arrested 30 profiteers during the current month. The ADCR said all price magistrates would be responsible for the availability of daily use commodities at fixed rates in their respective jurisdiction.
