Two civilians martyred in Indian shelling

RAWALPINDI: Two civilians were martyred and two injured in unprovoked Indian shelling from across the Line of Control (LoC) on Thursday.According to the ISPR, the Indian forces targeted Jora sector along the LoC in which two civilians on the Pakistani side of the border, including 14-year-old Shaharyar and 29-year-old Naveed, were martyred, while two persons, including a woman, were injured.The Pakistan Army effectively responded to the firing and damaged the Indian post engaged in firing. The ISPR said casualties had also taken place on the Indian side as a result of exchange. Three Pakistani soldiers were also injured in the exchange of fire.The two forces traded fire a day after the Indian Army Chief Gen Bipin Rawat's provocative statement against Pakistan in which he said the situation along the border could escalate any time.Meanwhile, a soldier was martyred and four others wounded in an improvised explosive device (IED) attack along the Pak-Afghan border, the ISPR said in a statement. “There was an "IED attack on troops busy fencing along the Pak-Afghan Border near Kandao Sar Post in Landikotal," the ISPR added. The martyred soldier was identified as Lance Naik Taqdeer Ali Orakzai.
