LAHORE: The Czech model who was sentenced to eight years imprisonment in a drug smuggling case has challenged her conviction in the Lahore High Court. Teresa Alexkova said in her appeal that the trial court sentenced her in the case contrary to the facts of the case. She said the bag in which the heroin was found did not belong to her. The model claimed that the bag was switched and that this was not the same bag which had been checked by the Anti-Narcotics Force. She claimed that the Customs officials found the drugs after her bag had been switched. Alexkova has requested the court to overturn the sentence as well as release her on bail after suspending her sentence. She was arrested at the Lahore airport on January 10, 2018, while trying to smuggle nine kilogram heroin. She was travelling from Dubai to Ireland via Lahore. On March 20, an ANF court in Lahore had sentenced her to eight years imprisonment and a fine of Rs113,000.
