MANSEHRA: Upper Kohistan Deputy Commissioner Hamidur Rehman has said the government wants to remove hurdles in way of 4300-megawatt Dasu hydropower project and it was the reason the demands by the landowners have been presented to the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec) for approval."I appreciate your cooperation extended to the district administration in execution of work on all components of the dam and the time is not far when a high-level forum in the country will decide on your demands," Hamidur Rehman told an 80-member committee of landowners, who met him in presence of Kohistan Member National Assembly Afreen Khan on Monday.MNA Afreen Khan said that landowners, whose land was acquired for the Dasu dam, had also met Chief Minister Mahmood Khan last month in Peshawar, seeking an increase in the land prices as per the market rate and change of nature of land from barren to agricultural.Hamidur Rehman said the Ecnec was the last and final forum either to accept or reject the demands. He said that at a meeting on March 5, the chief minister communicated to the Ecnec the issue of increase in the prices of the lands, and change of nature of land from barren to agriculture or rain-irrigated.
